Why I'm walking....
August 29, 2013No Comments
So on October 5th I’m walking in the “Out of the Darkness” walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Suicide seems to be something that way too many of us have had affect our lives in one way or another.
I have been a DJ since I was 13 years old, not saying that I was ever any good by any means! But I always enjoyed watching other DJs mix at clubs or shows. I am one of the people that thinks that being able to mix records if a definite art form. 4 years ago today I was just days away from spending my birthday in Las Vegas and to make it the perfect Birthday night I had tickets to see my favorite DJ, DJ AM spin! It was too perfect. I was excited to say the least! Then I got a call from a friend, Adam Goldstein, AKA DJ AM was found dead in his New York apartment. A drug overdose that may have been on purpose. Adam had survived a plane crash, but could not survive the guilt of being one of the only people to survive the crash, or his fight with drugs. DJs and music lovers all over lost a great talent that night, and I lost one of my Idols.
I walk for the memory of DJ AM, because I don’t want to hear a story like this again. Because I hope that with the right help and services tragedies like this could be avoided.
I have a team set up for the walk. It’s Sunday October 5th from 10am to 12pm. If you would like to walk with the Late Night HOWL team PLEASE sign up! It’s a free walk and you have no requirement to walk! And if my team raises $3000 in donations, I’m getting our whole team our very own 1019 The Wolf Team Late Night Howlers T-Shirts to walk in!
Here is the link to join the team!
RIP Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein
